Now is the Time: Ecclesiastes 3

Solomon, son of King David, writes the book of Ecclesiastes and asks the reader to consider what aspects of life define who and where they are. Ecclesiastes speaks to the tasks, attitudes, uncertainties, wealth, wisdom, education, relationships, politics and pleasures of the era they lived in. Through all the wisdom and experience that he had in life, Solomon’s response to it all was that life was heh’bel (vapor or vanity). A vapor is here one moment and gone the next, appearing solid but passing easily through our fingers. Vapor can go quickly from impairing your vision to fading so that you can see the world clearly around you. The Teacher in Ecclesiastes challenges us to understand that life itself is like a vapor, and to be aware of our fading time as we prepare for our eternal future. Now is the time to understand and to find an answer.
